UpSlide's formatting features are designed to speed up the process of formatting raw data to align with your company's branding standards.
Format tables
Apply custom formatting to tables
- Highlight the entire range of cells.
- Click Smart Format in the UpSlide ribbon.
- You can undo Smart Format with Ctrl+Z.
Smart Format is great for simple tables, but you may want to make adjustments. Using the series of buttons displayed above, you will be able to adjust fonts, background colours, borders, or number formats. These features are based on the following principles:
- Successive clicks on a single button will cycle through all available formats.
- Once the cycle is complete, the initial formatting is reapplied.
Feature description
- Smart Format: applies a title style to the first row of the selection, a result style to the final row, and an item style to all rows in between.
- Custom Background Color, Borders: cycles through all available backgrounds, borders styles before re-applying the initial format.
- Custom Fonts: cycles through all available customized fonts (Ctrl+Alt+T) or font colors (Ctrl+Shift+Alt+A), before re-applying the initial format. The drop down menu of custom fonts also let you apply specific font size defined by your administrator.
- Number Format: a dropdown with your company's custom number formats with previews, divided by category (General, Currency, Percent, Multiple, Date)
- Column Width: cycles through all available column widths before re-applying the initial format.
- Column Height: cycles through all available column heights before re-applying the initial format.
- Line Styles: offers a preview of the available styles, which can then be applied by clicking the style in the preview. These styles can also be applied using the Titles, Items, and Results buttons.
- Titles: cycles through all available title styles before re-applying the initial format.
- Items: cycles through all available item styles before re-applying the initial format.
- Results: cycles through all available result styles before re-applying the initial format.
Technical details
Custom styles are best employed on tables where the first column contains labels since they apply a specific indentation and alignment to that column.
Custom styles can impact fonts, background colours, borders, cell width and height, and alignment. They do not affect number formats, which you can change using the Number Format dropdown.
Format charts and graphs
Apply custom formatting to charts and graphs
- Select your chart.
- Click Smart Format.
Unlike with tables, you cannot undo Smart Format on a chart using CTRL + Z, but you can adjust the size, colour, font, borders, etc.
