UpSlide's formatting features are designed to speed up the process of formatting raw data to align with your company's branding standards.
Formatting tables with UpSlide
To quickly apply your custom formatting to tables:
- Highlight the entire range of cells
- Click Smart Format in the UpSlide ribbon
- To undo, simply click Ctrl + Z
Smart Format is great for simple tables, but you may want to make adjustments. Using the series of buttons displayed above, you will be able to adjust fonts, background colors, borders, or number formats in a manner of seconds. These features are based on the following principles:
- Successive clicks on a single button will cycle through all available formats.
- Once the cycle is complete, the initial formatting is reapplied (as if you used the native undo Excel feature).
Feature description:
- Smart Format: applies a title style to the first row of the selection, a result style to the final row, and an item style to all rows in between.
- Line Styles: offers a preview of the available styles, which can then be applied by clicking the style in the preview. These styles can also be applied using the Titles, Items, and Results buttons.
- Titles: cycles through all available title styles before re-applying the initial format.
- Results: cycles through all available result styles before re-applying the initial format.
- Items: cycles through all available item styles before re-applying the initial format.
- Number Format: a dropdown with your company's custom number formats with previews.
- Background Color: cycles through all available background colors before re-applying the initial format.
- Column Width: cycles through all available column widths before re-applying the initial format.
- Column Height: cycles through all available column heights before re-applying the initial format.
Technical details:
The custom styles are best employed on tables where the first column contains labels, since the styles apply a specific indentation and alignment to the first column.
The custom styles can impact fonts, background colors, borders, cell width and height, or alignment. They do not affect number formats (which you can change using the Number Format button as below showing the preview and full number format to be applied as a tooltip).
Formatting charts with UpSlide
To quickly apply your custom formatting to charts:
- Select your chart
- Click Smart Format in the UpSlide ribbon
Unlike with tables, you cannot undo Smart Format on a chart using CTRL + Z, but you are able to make adjustments to size, color, font, borders, etc.
Using Auto Smart Format:
Auto Smart Format allows you to automatically apply Smart Format to new charts as you create them. You'll know this is working when your charts created automatically have your company branding. UpSlide is applying the Smart Format for you.
If you want to change this setting you can:
- Click Settings in the UpSlide ribbon
- Click Formatting in the Settings window
- Uncheck 'Use Team Settings' and check/uncheck the box next to 'Auto SmartFormat Charts'
