UpSlide’s footnotes and endnotes features let you add and manage notes in your PowerPoint slides.
Inserting and updating footnotes
- Select the text to which you would like to add a Footnote and click on the Insert button. Within the Insert button, select Footnote or use the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+F.
- Superscript numbers will be automatically added to your text, and a default textbox will be created for the Footnotes textbox.
- To refresh the Footnotes, click on the Refresh dropdown and select Footnotes. UpSlide will only update the changes made to the Footnotes.
- You may also choose to refresh the entire presentation, including the Table of Contents and Footnotes, by clicking on the Refresh dropdown and selecting the Whole presentation button.
Inserting and updating endnotes
- Place your cursor where you want to insert an endnote, then open the Insert dropdown and select Endnote.
- A superscript number will be added to your text, and UpSlide will create an Endnotes slide at the end of your presentation.
- In the table on the Endnotes slide, type your endnote. Endnotes are formatted as a hyperlinks, making it easy to jump between content and endnotes.
- To update endnote numbering, open the Refresh dropdown and select Endnotes. Any formatting you've applied to the endnote text will be preserved.
- To refresh the entire presentation—including the Table of Contents and Endnotes—select Whole presentation from the same dropdown.

Customizing Endnotes and Footnotes superscript
- Navigate to the Options button in the References section of the UpSlide ribbon. A pane will open on the right.
- Select Footnotes tab at the top of the Options pane.
- In the Superscript format dropdown select the format that you want to apply.
- Press Apply at the bottom of the pane to apply these changes to all future and current UpSlide Endnotes and Footnotes already in your presentation.
Customizing the Footnotes’ textbox
- Navigate to the Options button in the References section of the UpSlide ribbon. A pane will open on the right.
- Select Footnotes tab at the top of the Options pane.
- Select Select a new shape and chose the shape in your slide you would like to use.
- You can also format your footnotes further by choosing the superscript format, whether to restart the numbering at every slide or continuous through the presentation, and to include a line break for each Footnote by enabling these option in the pane.
- Press Apply at the bottom of the pane to apply these changes to all future and current UpSlide Footnotes already in your presentation.
Customizing the Endnotes Table
UpSlide will format the endnotes table using the first table style (in alphabetical order) from your template. If none is defined, it will use the first style shared across all templates. You can find more information on how to set-up Table Styles here.

As an administrator, you will be able to set up your template's default Footnotes textbox to follow a shape layout, font, positioning, size, alignment, etc., to fit your organization's branding. Find more information on editing templates here.
