This article touches on UpSlide’s compatibility with different Office shortcuts: F4, Ctrl+Y and Ctrl+Z.
Context
Ctrl+Z is a native Office shortcut that allows you to undo previous actions that were performed.
F4 and Ctrl+Y are native shortcuts to either repeat your latest action or redo actions you've just undone. F4 and Ctrl+Y are completely equivalent; they both do the same thing. Whether they repeat your latest action or redo actions you've undone depends on whether you've just undone an action.
PowerPoint, Excel, and Word handle undoing and repeating actions differently. Below is a list of UpSlide functionalities and their compatibilities with F4, Ctrl+Y and Ctrl+Z
In PowerPoint
✅ Ctrl+Z is compatible with all UpSlide functionalities in PowerPoint.
❌ F4 and Ctrl+Y are not compatible with UpSlide functionalities in PowerPoint.
In Excel
Whenever you use UpSlide—or even your own macros—it will empty what we call the "undo stack" and "redo stack." This means you will be unable to undo or redo any actions you performed before then.
Some UpSlide features partially circumvent this limitation and define their own single undo and repeat actions.
⚠️ Ctrl+Z is compatible with all of UpSlide’s Format and Format Tables when used on cells. If you use the same features on a chart, Ctrl+Z won't be available.
Note that Ctrl+Z will also work after you use Operations features.
Ctrl + Z is not compatible with other UpSlide features.
⚠️ F4 and Ctrl+Y are compatible with all of UpSlide’s Format and Format Tables when used on cells. It is not compatible with Operations features, nor any other UpSlide features.
In Word
✅ Ctrl+Z is compatible with all UpSlide functionalities in Word.
❌ F4 and Ctrl+Y are not compatible with UpSlide functionalities in Word.
