This article describes the different advanced options available. The options available will vary if you've chosen a Light or a Standard template. If you're not familiar with UpSlide's PowerPoint automation, you might want to look at our Getting started article.
Light and Standard template options
The options below are available in both Light and Standard templates.
Pagination
This option allows a presentation to skip slide numbers for certain layouts. For example, if you do not wish section, subsection and appendix layouts to count in the numbering of your presentation, you can select them in the dropdown menu to remove them. This will also remove the slide number placeholder from the layouts.
Page number format
This option adds text before every slide number. In a Light template, this will only apply to the agenda slide. In a Standard template, this change will apply to the agenda slide, section and subsection dividers. This option will not affect the slide number placeholder in your content slides.
Section number format
You can choose to add a text before each section number. You can also start each section from 1 to 9 with a 0 to help with the alignment of your section numbers if your presentations usually have more than 10 sections. You can also add text after the section number.
In a Light template, this will only apply to the agenda slide. In a Standard template, this change will apply to the agenda slide, section and subsection dividers.
Subsection number format
You can add text before or after a subsection number as well as before a subsection title. In a Light template, this will only apply to the agenda slide. In a Standard template, this change will apply to the agenda slide, section and subsection dividers.
Vertical spacing
When generating agenda slides, section and subsection dividers with multiple elements, UpSlide sets the spacing between elements by sticking the placeholders to one another based on the height defined in the automation slides.
If you'd like to give your titles more space, you can change this behaviour by setting a specific spacing for each element. Setting the fields to 0 reverts to the default of sticking the placeholders to one another. In a Light template, you can only adjust the spacing of elements in the agenda slide. In a Standard template, you can adjust the spacing of elements in the agenda slide, section and subsection dividers.
Standard template-only options
Current Section / Subsection Format
This option allows you to set the current section or subsection title to bold to differentiate it from non-current elements. You can also set a banner to highlight them, but you cannot set a different colour for each element.
The banner will take the shape of the placeholder you have set for the element in the automation slide. If you want your title to be properly placed in the placeholder, make sure to align the text in the middle and use the margins available in the Format Shape menu.
Non-Current Section / Subsection Format
In our subsection example, we showed how to set the non-current subsections to a specific colour. You can also choose the option Gray them out to set the font colour to a lighter shade than the one used for the current section. 0 sets the font colour to white, and 1 is the same font colour used for the current title.
General
Under Decorate agenda slides and dividers, the Standard template has an additional option to add a line under section titles on the agenda slide, section and subsection dividers. The line will be placed at the bottom of the section title placeholder on all slides displaying it unless you add some vertical offset. Similarly, it will be the entire length of the section title placeholder unless you apply a horizontal offset.
The line will be the same colour, weight and vertical and horizontal offset on the agenda slide and the section and subsection dividers.
