Skype for Business (previously called Lync 2013) is now part of Office Installation. Since Lync 2013, Microsoft has added many features, so it might be useful to upgrade Lync 2013 to Skype for Business while keeping an Office 2013 installation. Problem is Skype for Business 2016 registers Office 2016 Components on top of the Office 2013 ones. This will break the UpSlide link system.
Problem
You are using Office 2013, with Skype for Business installed. When you try to export data with UpSlide, this message appears in Excel:
When trying to update, you also get this message:
Solution
There are two ways to solve this issue.
First solution
Install a stand-alone version of Skype For Business 2016. Please follow the below steps:
- Uninstall Office 2013
- Uninstall Skype for Business 2016
- Reinstall Office 2013
- Install Skype for Business Basic "Standalone Client" (available here)

Second solution
Edit the registry to remove the conflicting key.
- Open Registry Editor with administrator rights (regedit.exe)
- Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{2DF8D04C-5BFA-101B-BDE5-00AA0044DE52}
- Remove the 2.8 Key
- Restart the computer.
